A note from Mita...
Dear Friends,

This summer I will have a solo exhibit — "Other Words for Birds" —at the Carnegie Gallery in Dundas, running July 5 – 28. 

Please drop by the gallery Friday July 5, from 7-9:30pm to say hello and enjoy a glass of wine at the opening reception!

The show celebrates those ineffable creature-to-creature encounters we have with the birds that live among us.  As I’ve worked, I’ve tried to appreciate each subject as an individual rather than an instance of its species.  You can preview some of the pieces in the series here on my website. And if you’d enjoy a little more diversion, this Rexroth poem helps explain the most oddly titled piece, and conveys some of the spirit of this project.

SAQA "Trunk Show E" will be in Deux-Montagnes for their Quilt Show May 25-26th

The Guild welcomes our SAQA Trunk Show along with the Montreal Modern Quilt Guild and Guest Artists LILY LAM.

After having to cancel their show due to the high and rising waters in the local rivers and the need to use the Olympia Arena to shelter over 900 area residents, the DEUX MONTAGNES QUILT SHOW will be open May 25 and 26th and their members welcome all of you to come for a visit and share in the magic of their beautiful quilts and the Merchant Vendors, Member's Boutique and enjoy Quilt Appraisals, quiltmaking and techniques demonstrations and so much more.

Bethany Garner will be representing SAQA and hopes to see many SAQA members who will enjoy TRUNK SHOW E - 57 pieces of beautiful SAQA Artwork...

My workshop at the Haliburton Summer School of the Arts is just for YOU! 

“Screen Printing - Imagery and Texture on Fabric” 
    July 29 - August 2 

   In this five-day workshop, you will explore the use of pigments on fabric, learn how to create simple motifs as well as designs with fine and detailed imagery, which you will use to make silk screens and print your own designs in an inspirational and encouraging environment. 

   I will show you how to create designs by manipulating texture and colour
   with the goal of establishing a unique line of fabrics.  Just imagine the opportunity for creating personal statements on fabrics that you can use in your textile projects!
