Dear Shweshwe fans
After a very busy schedule of travelling during May, it feels great to touch base with you again. It has been an adventurous month with trunk show presentations spread far and wide in Ontario from Mississauga, Hamilton and Ingersoll to Orillia and even two presentations in Geneva NY in the United States. I never tire of sharing the Shweshwe story, because it is so rich in the cultural history of South Africa and of textiles, worldwide.
I was fortunate to attend several quilt shows in the past month: the Four Corners Quilt Guild Show in Mount Forest ON, as well as the Courtepointe Québec Salon 2018 in Laval QC, where I managed to tell the Shweshwe story in French to very patient and helpful Québec quilters visiting our booth at the quilt show. I was able to attend the Quilts on the Grand Show in Fergus ON as a volunteer, not as a vendor, and just be a member of my own guild this weekend too. It is both humbling and inspiring to see the outstanding work of so many talented quilters and fibre artists both on my travels and at home.
During the summer months, the pace will slow down a little, and I look forward to welcoming visitors to the Meerkat Shweshwe Studio in beautiful Elora. There are several Open House days, workshops and retreats coming up.
Elora is a fabulous destination for an overnight getaway, so be sure to check out our link to the Flying Leap B&B on our website, as they will offer a discounted rate to Meerkat Shweshwe customers.
