VERNISSAGE and Meet the Artist
Saturday September 10, 2016
7-9 pm

Please do plan to join Robin, family and friends as they celebrate this milestone in Robin's life... the sharing of a body of work that is not only a beautiful representation of Robin's exceptional textile art pieces, but her hand drawn and painted artworks which have always been a part of her practice.

All my life I have been driven to create: to write, draw, renovate, paint, sew, knit, hook, and most recently combine all these into pieces of fibre art.

Colour and texture pull me in and keep me up at night until I’ve figured out how to make them mine; and then how to picture them so that others can see what I see, be it beautiful, political, sentimental, funny or just a scintillating juxtaposition of bits and pieces that somehow please.

For a preview of her work, visit Robin's page at the Kingston Fibre Artists website here

Please contact the Gallery for more details/directions...

Well the submission rush is done......thanks for all your wonderful entries and to celebrate we thought we would revisit some of the artists that were part of the Fibre Content 2014 show.

First up is Al Cote!!
Al is a member of SAQA Central Canada and lives in the Niagara Region. He likes curved piecing, raw edge appliqué, painting on fabric and collage using found objects. He loves working with silks, wools, velvets, and upholstery fabrics as well as cotton and does not like high realism pieces.

Al describes his piece from the FC 2014 show......
I have heard people talk about the cooing sounds of morning doves in their backyards welcoming them to a brand new day. Each day I listen ....but only hear the screeching sounds of the black crows in my backyard. I have come to enjoy them and marvel at their natural curiosity which inspired me to create this piece and show them in a beautiful bright environment.
Using hand dyed wools, silks and cottons with curved piecing and raw edge Applique, I gave the Crows a whimsical setting.

They were honoured by gracing the cover of the Fiber Content 2014 brochure!
