SAQA Central Canada member PATRICIA CAFFERY shares news of her joint exhibition with daughter PENNY CAFFERY at the Ottawa School of Dance


Please join Pat and Penny Caffery as they share their new work during an Exhibition at the Ottawa School of Dance. This is an opportunity to see the work of this very special and dedicated arts team, mother and daughter, each working with their own special techniques and style of working. Creativity and specialized use of fabrics, found objects and placement of stich and embellishment will make their works a delight to view and study during your visit.

FIBRE CONTENT 2016 Exhibition travelling to Orillia - VERNISSAGE Reception February 18, 2017 at the Museum at 1 pm

Hello Fibre Content 2016 Artists 

We wanted to follow up our previous email about the condensed 38 piece travel version of the show. 

FIBRE CONTENT  will open at the Orillia Museum of Art and History on January 21, 2017 and be there until April 23, 2017.  

The Museum prepared the poster above to promote the show Please email Robynne Cole for a copy of the poster in a larger jpg. size  so you can use I in your personal advertising for the show.

While there, Fibre Content will overlap and coincide with their International Women’s Day Art Show.

Opening Reception: February 18, 1-3pm

The International Women's Day Art Show invites women artists to participate in an annual art exhibition, in celebration of International Women's Day (March 8). The show's main goal is to encourage women to express themselves artistically in a themed group show, which is not juried and therefor inclusive. The spirit of the exhibition is one of affirmation and co-operation.

Celebrating the show's 21st year, and 7th year at OMAH, this year's exhibition is centralized around the theme of RENEWAL.

FIBRE CONTENT will share in their official joint exhibition opening at the Museum on February 18th at 1:00PM.  

Lunch and Learn related to the exhibit will be on March 1st.

This show will celebrate the amazing range of textile and fibre based work being created within contemporary art practice today. Artists were invited to submit a maximum of two pieces as well as small bodies of work and installations. Two Jurors' Prizes of $200 will be awarded.

Contemporary Canadian Art Quilts : 
From Fine Craft to Fine Art

Joan Hug-Valeriote is curating the highly anticipated multimedia art quilt exhibition which will take place at Kitchener City Hall and invites all area art quilt enthusiasts and arts supporters to visit the  exhibition during its run from April 8-May 30th, 2017.


The “virtual” component of the show is a continuous video display of over 100 Contemporary Canadian Art Quilt photographs compiled in a dynamic video collage of several universal themes.  The quilt artists come from across Canada and their work will be displayed over a 5 foot square array  of 20 screens , plus a selection of the beautiful art quilts on the walls .

I am very pleased to let you all know that I am the SAQA regional representative for Central Canada for the next two years.
This sizeable territory includes all of Ontario and Quebec. I wish to sincerely thank and commend outgoing reps Bethany Garner and Dwayne Wanner, who with Robynne Cole and our members, have worked hard these past four years to create a strong community of talented textile artists and kept us connected to this fabulous international organization.
