ABOUT TOWN with Pamela Allen
Creating an art quilt is a process that is personal and requires the imagination, creativity and focus that our SAQA members bring into their work every day. One master of the art form is our own renowned Kingston fibre artist, PAMELA ALLEN. This fall, FIBREWORKS KINGSTON welcomes Pam as she shares a full weekend of fibre play with students who will have the opportunity to see, share and devour the boundless energy and huge inventory of design, stitch and colour mastery that Pamela brings into each of her pieces.
Being able to spend two focused fall days designing and stitching a story about your own town, a familiar landscape or an area visited and worthy of recording in cloth - a memory that will be recorded for time or just a magical and fun filled adventure with your creative muse is the promise for our weekend students. Students will enjoy Pam's quick-fire exercises to start the process, and sketching, free form cutting, layering and stitching a small masterpiece of their own or a larger piece that will carry the message of a special place in their lives to be shared with others.
