HEATHER DUBREUIL work featured in HUDSON ARTISTS EXHIBITION

Heather Dubreuil will be one of more than thirty artists showing their work at the spring show of the Hudson Artists. The local group is more than sixty years old, and has capped its membership at eighty.

Virtually all the artists work in traditional media, with some forays into encaustic, collage and mixed media. Heather enjoys the opportunity to expose the artists and those visiting the show to her work in fibre, and it has been very well received by the community at large. She feels that she has received more coverage than expected because work in cloth is a new idea for many. The benefit to Heather has been  what the group has to offer in terms of guest speakers, exhibition opportunities, information about suppliers, and friendly support.

Heather encourages other SAQA members to consider joining their local artist groups as a way of broadening the audience for their work, and invites you to visit her website at http://www.heatherdubreuil.com for more information.

Interview with SAQA Central Canada Co-Rep, Dwayne Wanner, on World of Threads Blog

Please make time this week to visit the wonderful interview just posted as #54 in the annual WORLD OF THREADS Featured Artists Series and this month featuring our own DWAYNE WANNER.

Dwayne has contributed a story that is a good read for the online visitors to this exciting blog series as he relates how he came to quilting and his personal take on the current Art Quilt movement across North America and around the world. The interview is comprehensive, covering a number of topics and helps us get to know Dwayne a bit better. Dwayne's new work is stunning and complex, and as you read through the interview, you will find that his knowledge of the art world is certainly recognizable and plays a huge role in his support of the Contemporary Quilt world in which he has become a strong voice.

SAQA Eastern Ontario meeting to run 10 am to 4 pm - Mark your calendar and join us!

Just to clarify and put many minds at ease... the upcoming SAQA Central Canada Meeting scheduled for Saturday, April 14th at the St. Lawrence College, Brockville Campus in Room 114 will begin with "Meet and Greet" time at 10 am (though Bethany Garner, your host for the day, will be at SLC starting around 9 am - so come when you can).

The actual meeting will begin at 10:30 am, with lunch from 12:30 - 1 pm and then we will all have time for several demonstrations in the afternoon.

Make sure you each bring your "Creative Buffet" (new work to share), and if you are interested, bring any pieces you might like to share for suggestions and "dilemma" problem solving. There is no better place than among talented friends like the members of our SAQA group to help with small items that are stopping us from finishing new work.

The April 14th final Meeting Agenda will be forwarded later next week, so watch your email... please make sure Bethany has any additions to new business or iitems important for discussion no later than April 9th please.

See you in Brockville...please RSVP to Bethany at garner@kingston.net
